Mark has been involved with creating and managing Linux distributions since 1997, and specifically embedded Linux systems since 2000. Starting in 1997 he was involved with MkLinux and later the Linux/PPC Reference Release. In 2000 MontaVista Software hired him to help with everything from build systems, toolchains to userspace integration. Since 2005 he has worked for Wind River, working on many of the same types of systems. Mark has also been involved with the GENIVI automotive organization, and was the first System Infrastructure Working Group chair. In 2010 he started working with the group that became the Yocto Project, providing technical guidance based on his many years of experience. Since that time Mark has spoken at many conferences about embedded Linux and the Yocto Project, including LinuxCon, ELC, ELC-E, and Design East (ESC).
